Volunteer Positions: 7 new postings!

Volunteer coordinator:
Maintain and computerize volunteer data base, maintain good relationship with volunteers, thanking and acknowledging volunteers. Average of 10 hours per week commitment is desired; and will increase periodically, based on current events. Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, internet and email is required.

Event coordinator:
Work with volunteer coordinator and business manager on events and campaigns.  Tasks: Assess the human resource and time requirements for each event; identify tasks; coordinate promotion and contact/invite media. Periodic commitment expected. Event coordination and media experience are required.

Volunteer administrative support:
Keeping track of volunteer hours; and co-op credits issued.  Knowledge of Excel spreadsheet is desired.

Newsletter writer/ editor: 

A person that is well informed about co-ops in general, and all the activities of our co-op, and be able to write and edit with flair, enthusiasm and accuracy.

Graphic artist:

Formatting of newsletter, articles, blurbs, etc. (ongoing basis, ability to quickly respond, as most items have a short lead time.)
 
Social Media Networker:
Tweet, blurb and face book your heart out! A person who loves to spend time on social networking tools and who can commit 2 hours twice per week to twitter, respond to blurbs and respond to and post activities on Facebook.

Member Engagement 
Research and develop action plan for member engagement.  Experience with member engagement preferred.  Further requirement for volunteers to implement the Member Engagement plan.
 

Short term/ periodic volunteers:

Choices workshops Tuesdays from March 3rd till March 24, between 10 am and noon; assisting with group facilitation. Experience with the homeless community and/or mental health and/or addiction is desired.

Food preparation and facilitation: range from cooking meals, preparing snacks, serve participants, ask grocery stores for donations.

Logistical tasks: Set up tables, register participants, provide name tags, assist participants with light tasks if necessary.

Administrative tasks: Assist with evaluation surveys, collate data and assist with reporting of data.

*Food Safe and First Aid certification is desired; will provide training for Food Safe and First Aid, for those who volunteer on a regular basis.

 

Committees:

Public Relations committee: 3 positions:

A person to assist with the design of promotional material, calling for quotes on promotional material production, contacting media, co-writing stories and articles for the media, building media relations with Chek News, A-Channel, Times Colonist etc. Experience with media is desired.

A person with marketing skills to assist with the ongoing development and the execution of the marketing plan, to conduct surveys and market research.

A person to assist with advertising and promotion: Assist with distribution of promotional material, networking, and member recruitment. People skills and a contagious passion for our co-op is desired.

Human Resources Committee: 2 positions

Senior level experience with human resources in co-operatives, and in employment policy is desired.
