Some members of our Co-op family are also medical and natural health practitioners. We refer to them as "member-practitioners". Each practitioner has a profile on our site which describes the scope of their professional practice, if they offer services as part of the Community Wellness Clinics and if they offer a discount to Co-op members. Some have a link to their own web page where you can find additional information about their qualifications and their fees. Each member-practitioner also adheres to the VCHC Code of Ethics.

How do I select a practitioner?
You can start by browsing Practitioner Profiles through the links above to find out which member-practitioners are listed. Different practitioners have different strengths, specialities and interests. Read about their practice and get a sense if they feel like the right person for you. Your relationship with your practitioner should be a partnership. Their expertise, experience and understanding are there to support your health goals.
Next, call or email the practitioner you are interested in and interview them. Tell them a bit about you, what you want to achieve and ask how they can best support you in your goals. Have they worked with clients with conditions similar to yours? What is their philosophy on health and healing? Does it match yours? Ask about session times and rates. If you are comfortable with their answers, make an appointment for an initial session.
Sometimes you will only know you've found the right practitioner when you actually receive a treatment from them. Is their office clean and comfortable? Is it accessible? What kind of “space” do they hold? Do you feel safe and comfortable with them? Do they listen to you? Are they consistent, respectful, non-judgmental? Accepting, caring and patient? Do they have good boundaries and clearly set the guidelines for your work together? Will they give you the tools to enable you to do your own work between sessions if this is important to you? If the answer to your questions is “Yes”, then you've found the right practitioner for you.
You may wish to come for your initial session to the Community Wellness Clinic. Our Health Navigator is an excellent resource about natural health modalities and can help guide you in developing a health care plan to support your well being. To contact our Health Navigator, call the Co-op number (250-483-5503), leave a message and we will get back to you. You can book your appointment for the Community Wellness clinic through the co-op as well.
